How We Get Started

This morning after i woke up, i still keep thinking of the calendar project. Wondering if i manage to make it complete on time while i am still counting on who should be in which month. If the second photo shooting which will be held this coming Saturday at Sam's place is successful, I really reckon the calendar Will be ready at least by the middle of January.

At first, we face many obstacles in turn this calendar project into reality. The idea came from Sam who showed to us Nicol David photos on the Wispa photo shooting in Amsterdam. Then, commented by Jeff, William, Anthony and me and we end up when someone which i really forgot who, suggested - " why don't we make our own calendar?" . Everyone was pause for a second before Sam breaking the silence by saying .." yeahh!!".

Fun together (L-R : Anthony, Daniel, Chee Leong and Hank)

Thinking back, with all of this spirit, i cant help to wonder on how we all started. From strangers to be a good friends and now we are more than just brothers.

When i started to join this group after being introduce by Daryl, I dint put much hope in expanding my games. That time, Monday and Thursday training is just to sweat my body out. But, what kind of magic that hold us together..? I still remember Pat, Daniel, Tommy, Desmond, Tang, Vincent, Anthony, Daryl and William was among the original members of the groups. Then come many new faces including me, Sam, JK, Jeff Tee, Jeff Ng, Hank, Calvin, Chee Leong, Rick , Thaddes, Adam, Aaron, Remy, John, Mark and TM.

To organise this kind of group , someone not only with courage, but also a passion into the sport are needed. It had been shown to all of the ICs previously (Except me.. haahaha). Started with Jeff (Which I never had chance to meet him) left the group to concentrate on his restaurant business. Handed over the IC responsibility to Pat who did a tremendous job as an IC but at the end have to leave for China. Then Tommy, who hold the IC position for quite long time before he also leave to Singapore. During Tommy as an IC, with his initiative, we hold many internal tournament. Thousand of congrats to him. And then he passed the baton to me and the most recent Hank.

Not only IC, the players also come and go. Tang who was one of the loyal to the group have to leave the country to work in Australia, followed by JK who left to Singapore. Anthony were at one time have to forget about squash when he have to work in Philippines for a year. But the spirit of friendship is so thick in their heart until whenever they are here in Malaysia, the will not forget to spend time with the existing members for at least a game.

The biggest success that i can remember is when we manage to arrange a tournament with our counter part across the Johor Straits. Congrats to IC Hank and Ken from Singapore who made the tournament one of the successful stories in our group. With the tournament , we managed to get to know more players from Singapore such as Chuan Yew, Sebastian, Michael, Justin and our all time favourite Logan. The spirit does not only stop there but during the latest TSG 2008, we the squash team uplift the standard of the game when we received a participant from outside South East Asia. Thank you very much to Eric from Holland who spend his precious time joining our tournament. We do hope that the friendship will not only stop there.

Thinking back, from the bottom of my heart, I do hope with what had we been through and what we are having now, will make this group stronger.
